What is Sandbox?
With
Sandbox, you can watch your systems come to life, as you build
them. As you build walls, create polymers, move boundaries, and
change interactions, the fluid dynamics simulation is carried
out entirely in real-time. Sandbox benefits from multiple
processors; with a Quad 2.4ghz CPU, it is possible to simulate
approximately 50,000 fluid particles at interactive speeds.
Sandbox may be used as a teaching tool, to help understand the
concepts of dissipative particle dynamics before building
complicated systems with Fluidix. It can also be used to try out
new ideas and theories, or to get a feel for the parameters
required to achieve a particular phenomena.
Since
boundaries and fluid pump constraints can be placed, modified,
and moved in real-time, systems including complex flow can
quickly be designed and visualized, and the effects of changes
to that system become obvious. It takes only a matter of minutes
to implement in 2D a rough translation of a 3D system that
can eventually be modeled using Fluidix.

Water
flows downwards with gravity through a series of static
obstacles, as heavier yellow particles are carried
along. |
The
shockwave within the fluid is captured as repulsive
objects are instantaneously introduced into the system. |
